Position Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a motivated Audio Visual Technologist for the Office of Computing & Technology within the School of Public Health (SPH). Under the supervision of the Manager for Computing & Technology Support, the Audio Visual Technologist operates audiovisual and sound reproducing equipment, providing support to educational and public service programs offered by Rutgers School of Public Health and related entities. Installation and configuration of photographic equipment and digital cameras. Conducts basic repair, and operation of audiovisual equipment and systems; for interfacing personal computer systems with video projection equipment; and for assisting faculty, staff, and students with computer-based classroom demonstrations. Will also schedule, deliver, set-up, operate and provide support for a variety of complex audio visual equipment including LCD projectors, digital recorders, digital cameras, wired and wireless microphones. Among the key duties of this position are the following: - Communicates with SPH faculty & staff to determine their audiovisual (AV) needs determining the appropriate equipment.
- Sets up various types of video/data displays including projection and direct view technologies.
- Coordinates the use of audiovisual equipment in the classrooms.
- Interfaces computers both Windows and MAC to display systems. Adjusts computer display parameters or display devices to enable optimum interfacing while navigating all operating systems.
- Ensures audiovisual equipment is in proper working condition. This includes routine cleaning, inspection and replacement of parts in projectors, microphones, pointers, digital recorders and cameras.
- Troubleshoots problems with malfunctioning equipment, determines nature of problem and performs repairs as necessary. Arranges for and expedites repairs by approved vendors when such repairs cannot be performed on-site.
- Has technical knowledge of the operation of audio & video systems and peripheral equipment on all campus locations. As needed, adjusts equalizers, troubleshoots problems, performs minor repairs and expedites major repairs that cannot be done on-site.
Minimum Education and Experience: - Associates Degree in Video & Film, Audio Visual, electronics or related technical field plus at least (2) years of demonstrated relevant professional experience in a higher education environment.
- Applicants may substitute an additional year of related experience in lieu of the technical training program.
- At least one (1) year of the required experience shall have involved the training in and/or use of personal computers.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Requires extensive knowledge and experience in Mediasite Video Platforms, Camtasia, Final Cut Pro X, Digital Camera Photography and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, especially those that are currently being used at the University.
- Some degree of latitude to plan and accomplish goals, performing a variety of tasks without immediate supervision.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: - Able to lift up to 50 lbs. of computers, printers and other electronics or audio visual equipment as maybe required during meetings with clients and vendors between all campuses.
