About the Opportunity: The Roux Institute at Northeastern University, in partnership with MaineHealth, seeks to hire a visiting faculty member (one year, renewable). In particular, we are seeking a health economist interested in microeconomic work focused on health care delivery, innovation, and finance. Expertise in health economics at the level of Associate or Full Professor are preferred, but candidates at the Assistant Professor level with at least 5 years of postdoctoral experience will be given full consideration. Specific areas of interest include economic evaluation of healthcare delivery, cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit analyses, and health care innovation and economic modeling. Appointed at the Roux Institute in Portland, Maine, this faculty position will have their academic affiliation with both Northeastern University and the Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) at MaineHealth and will report jointly to the VP for Research at MaineHealth and the Academic Lead at the Roux Institute. CORE is a research center supporting the advancement of health services research and T3-T4 translational research at MaineHealth and serves as the focal point for health care professionals, researchers, and analysts from across MaineHealth to foster multidisciplinary collaborations that bring together our diverse skills and talents to pursue health services research and education. In addition, CORE and the Roux Institute cultivate strong research and educational collaborations with external partners including University of New England, University of Southern Maine, University of Vermont, The Dartmouth Institute, the Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute, The Jackson Laboratory, other health care delivery systems, community organizations, and state and local government agencies. The successful candidate will be engaged with other multidisciplinary faculty, including physician-scientists and doctoral-level health services researchers engaging in collaborative research and developing and conducting original methodological research as required. They will support proposals to secure external funding, and contribute to our educational mission including mentoring post-docs and faculty across the various sponsored fellowships and other educational programs across MaineHealth and Northeastern University. This is an internally funded, full-time, 12-month position, to start as soon as possible. This visiting faculty member will be essential in achieving CORE and Roux's research and educational missions This posting seeks experienced individuals with prior independent research experience and funding. Experience in leading federally-funded research (e.g., R awards at NIH/AHRQ or equivalent) is strongly desired. The position will involve significant consulting with and mentoring other faculty on relevant research methods, grant applications, and publications. The rank of visiting faculty appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
