POSITION: The Center for Integrative Health supports health and wellness programs for Duquesne University’s campus and neighboring communities, and facilitates interdisciplinary education and research opportunities for students and faculty. The Nurse Care Coordinator is a Registered nurse who is proficient in the coordination of care and manages coordination of care in accordance with recognized standards of practice for Care Management. Under the direction of the Manger of Community Health Initiatives, the Nurse Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Duquesne University Asthma Program which includes but is not limited to school and community-based asthma clinics, the asthma screening program and all asthma- related educational and health promotion programs. The nurse coordinator will also coordinate and oversee activities and duties related to approved research projects. We are looking for a passionate well-rounded individual with distinguished organizational, communication, time management, and critical thinking skills. The coordinator must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with a diverse population of patients and community partners both orally and in writing. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees implementation of school and community-based asthma screening program and coordinate referrals with appropriate health service providers. Actively recruits participants for the school and community-based asthma clinics and oversee informed consent process. Assumes role in assessment of patient physical, psychosocial, and economic needs. Documents, verifies, and validates data required to monitor and evaluate interventions and outcomes. Follows appropriate research policies, procedures, and regulations. Develops systems for, supervise, and track data collection, data management, and quality control of data. Contributes to preparation of research grant applications and compiling material for progress reports and other communications. Contributes to developing, maintaining, renewing, and modifying IRB protocols, consent forms and related documents under the direction of the PI. Calibrates and completes maintenance checks on all study related medical equipment. Coordinates and/or ensure supplies, equipment, and files are maintained in properly secured storage. Integrates performance improvement and customer service principles into all aspects of job responsibilities. Maintains a working knowledge of care management, care coordination changes, and regulatory requirements. Oversees all asthma-related educational programs for school personnel, school children, school nurses and other providers. Serves as a preceptor for and provide clinical education for Duquesne University Health Science students on clinical experiences in the Center for Integrative Health. Performs other job duties as assigned or required by the Manager of Community Health Initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree required. 2-3 years of recent clinical RN experience, outpatient, or public health preferred. Current PA RN license. National certification in Care Management Certification, Public Health Nursing, or other relevant clinical specialties.
