Job Summary Under general supervision, performs telephone triage under conditions that may be demanding, stressful and repetitious. Functions independently to collect data and make assessments, develop a working diagnosis, determine interventions and disposition per guidelines. Guides evaluation including instructing patient/caller how to evaluate normal/abnormal symptoms, effectiveness of treatment and when to call back. Documents symptoms/complaints, nursing assessment, advice and patient/caller response. Follows policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure consistency and departmental effectiveness as well as improve health care outcomes of patients/callers and their access to appropriate health care.
Responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Education: Completion of a nursing education program that satisfies the licensing requirements of the Colorado State Board of Nursing for Registered Nurses. BSN preferred. Experience: Typically, 2 years of recent nursing experience. Telephone Triage experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Provides age appropriate triage and treatment dispositions to all callers from newborn to Adult, including OB and Worker's Compensation Injury Reporting. Utilizes computer software and associated programs to triage and send reports to appropriate agencies or clinics. Uses Nursing judgment as an adjunct to the computer Software Program to reach appropriate dispositions and care advice. Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations. ability to apply nursing principles, practices and techniques. Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment. Ability to use computers and computer systems. Bilingual skills preferred. ~Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider Certification/CPR. Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Colorado or a participating compact state. *Specialty certifications as required/recommended per unit. All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
