Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Student Assistant for the department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the School of Public Health.

The Student Assistant will work under the supervision of Dr. Wei Vivian Li in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at SPH. The Assistant will help with Dr. Li's research project on single-cell genomic data. The Assistant will work on algorithm development and data analysis in this research project.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Prepares and analyzes large-scale single-cell genomic data using R.
• Develops statistical methods and algorithms.
• Reports and discusses research progress in an organized and timely manner.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Must be a current Rutgers student.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must have appropriate statistics training and experience and knowledge in basic statistical or genomic methods.
• Must be familiar with R programming.
• Be highly motivated to learn biological knowledge to better implement statistical tools and interpret statistical results.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience with clustering methods or analyses.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Must be able to lift or exert force up to 25 pounds.

Salary: $15/hour
