Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, manages, coordinates and performs statistical research, consultation, design, analysis and reporting to provide information to clients, principal investigator(s), management, and other agencies. Actively participates in statistical analysis plan development for multiple projects. Manages biostatisticians and data management staff. This position does not perform any direct bench or clinical (patient) research.

Responsibilities

1. Manages and trains Biostatisticians. Responsible for work allocation and for reviewing project deliverables (i.e. quarterly and annual reports). Responsible for daily management of staff, including work load and administrative duties (i.e. corrective actions). Performs annual performance reviews for assigned staff.

2. Contributes to presentations and publications; writes statistical section of manuscripts/results. Leads and assists in the preparation of manuscript submissions to peer-reviewed journals. Leads and assists in the presentation of research findings at regional and national conferences. Provides academic instruction, as necessary.

3. Corresponds directly with clients via email, telephone, and in person. Serves as a resource to physicians. Writes and submits progress reports.

4. Writes Statistical Analysis Plans. Assists with advanced statistical analyses and reports per statistical analysis plan.

5. Develops departmental processes, such as SOPs and Work Guidelines, to ensure proficient database management, data integrity, data analysis, and report validity. Develops, oversees and maintains database management and data quality processes for the department.

6. Reviews and authors study protocols for statistical methodology, study design, and sample size. Generates project/study reports as outlined in the project plan or statistical analysis plan.

7. Oversees validation/error checking of databases and data reviews to monitor protocol compliance. Compiles analysis-ready datasets from multiple sources of raw data.

8. Develops appropriate data collection instruments. Communicates with Director of Research Administration and Director of Biostatistics to discuss progress and provide recommendations. 9. Other duties as assigned.

1. Knowledge: Advanced understanding of applied statistical methodology and theory

2. Skill: Good verbal and written communication skills, and excellent customer service skills.

3. Abilities: Ability to summarize detailed information in an organized, concise manner to a variety of audiences. Ability to supervise and manage others. Computers and Technology 1. Fluent in SAS. 2. Fluent in Microsoft Excel, Word.

Education

PhD in Biostatistics or Statistics

Experience

Required: Five years' experience in Applied Biostatistics AND two years of management experience.
