Job Description: The Center for Policy Research (CPR) in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship to begin in August 2021. CPR supports academic research and program evaluation on a wide range of social policy issues (https://www.maxwell.syr.edu/cpr.aspx). The Postdoctoral Fellow will work primarily with Professor Colleen Heflin on research related to the causes and consequences of food insecurity, the landscape of food and nutrition assistance support programs and policies, and other social programs that support the ability of low-income households to cover basic needs. Applicants should have experience working with common secondary data sources. Preference will be given to applicants with experience working with administrative data or restricted access data (available locally through the Cornell Federal Statistical Research Data Center). While 25% of the Postdoctoral Fellow's time will be allocated to their own research, it is expected that the successful applicant will work closely with Dr. Heflin and other Center associates to design and conduct community-based research studies and/or conduct secondary analysis of data (particularly related to food insecurity and/or food assistance programs and policies), co-author peer-reviewed publications, publish research briefs, and present research at conferences. This position will offer exceptional opportunities for collaboration with CPR graduate students, staff, and affiliated faculty, as well as faculty and graduate students within the Maxwell X Lab ((https://www.maxwell.syr.edu/xlab/), the Lerner Center for Public Health Promotion (http://lernercenter.syr.edu/), and the Aging Studies Institute (https://asi.syr.edu/). The initial term of this appointment is one year. Reappointment for a second year is expected, subject to good performance. This Postdoctoral Fellowship provides access to a broad range of University and Maxwell School resources, and office space in CPR. CPR is located in the heart of the Maxwell School at Syracuse University and has a vibrant community of 30 faculty principally from Economics, Public Administration, and Sociology.
