![]() Postdoctoral Fellow on US-China Climate & Energy Policy Dynamics Georgetown University: Main Campus: Walsh School of Foreign Service Location: Washington, DC Open Date: Feb 1, 2021 Deadline: Description The Clean Energy & Climate Research Group led by Professor Joanna Lewis seeks a postdoctoral fellow to work on research related to US-China energy and climate policy dynamics including US-China climate and energy cooperation, climate and energy policy developments in both countries, and the overseas energy investment activities of both countries. Our research is motivated by the challenge of global climate change and the need to transition to a low carbon economy. Our projects examine the technical and political factors that shape domestic and international energy and climate policy decisions. Much of our work is focused on China and its ability to adopt and innovate in advanced and low-emissions energy technologies. More information on the research projects in progress are available on the group website. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to participate in ongoing research projects under the mentorship of the supervising professor and to pursue independent research leveraging Georgetown's resources and expertise. The fellow may have the opportunity to help organize and attend DC-based and international events including US-China climate dialogues and to conduct international field research if the public health situation allows. The fellow will be expected to participate in a monthly seminar series, attend weekly meetings, and help supervise more junior members of the group including undergraduate and master's students. The position is based within the interdisciplinary Science, Technology and International Affairs Program (STIA) at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service Qualifications The search committee welcomes applications from scholars who expect to complete their Ph.D. by fall of 2021, or who have completed their Ph.D. within the last five years. Applications will be accepted from all disciplines with a preference for candidates who have interdisciplinary training that includes a combination of scientific or technical training and international affairs or policy training. Candidates with expertise in US-China energy and climate cooperation, Chinas role in overseas energy investments, and/or energy and emissions modeling are of particular interest. Fluency in English is required, and fluency or proficiency in Chinese is strongly preferred. Applicants should be experienced in conducting independent, self-directed research, and enjoy working collaboratively. The postdoctoral scholar appointment is for one year.
