The UW’s Goldsen Institute Populations Health Research (Pop Health Research) is dedicated to creating innovations to address the health, aging, and well-being of LGBTQ midlife and older adults and other vulnerable populations, their families, and caregivers. It is distinguished by its innovative responses to the changing nature and diversity of aging in our society. The Population Health Research houses several research studies, including multiple federally funded projects, which illuminate innovation in the use of science to promote best practices in research, education, and practice to promote equity and reduce social, economic and health disparities now and for generations to come. The UW School of Social Work and Pop Health Research have an outstanding opportunity for a Research Coordinator. The Pop Health Research Coordinator provides leadership and engages in strategic planning yGen Center Manager is responsible for the overall coordination and administration of the HealthyGen Center (the Center). The Pop Health Research Coordinator provides leadership and engages in strategic planning, along with the Executive Committee, to set goals and objectives for the Population Health Research and multiple longitudinal and cross-sectional research projects that are affiliated with the Center such as Aging with Pride: National Health, Aging and Sexuality/Gender Study (NIH/NIA R01), and Wellness with Pride: COVID-19 and LGBTQ+ Communities. Leadership responsibilities include the implementation, supervision, monitoring, and evaluation of new and on-going research projects that promote healthy aging in midlife and older adults from marginalized communities. RESPONSIBILITIES: Management and Leadership: •Member of Executive Committee which sets goals and objectives for the Population Health; •Analyze complex problems or situations and respond with the development of efficient systems and operations, including staffing; •Provide leadership and overall coordination of multiple research projects; •Create workflow systems to insure that goals and objectives of multiple projects are met in a time-efficient, cost-effective manner, working closely with internal research teams and managers, national community advisory boards, scientific advisory boards, academic partners, community leaders, and funding and development agencies; •Create, maintain, and monitor timelines for research projects; •Manage facilities and assess, plan, and make recommendations for equipment and technology needs, utilization of office space; •Work with research team on survey measures, survey development, and field testing; •Assist in developing data collection methods, tools, protocols, and strategies for data management; •Work closely with data management specialist to maintain, monitor, and update data management system; •Oversee recruitment and retention procedures and goals of research subjects; •Assist research subjects via phone, email and mail as needed; •Assist in submitting research progress report to grant funder; •Maintain, monitor, and update dissemination plans and processes; •Ensure human subjects standards are implemented and followed; •Maintain appropriate human subjects documentation; •Prepare status reports and modifications; •Assist with human subject applications; •Assist in the development of research proposals; •Coordinate meetings with research teams, national community advisory boards, scientific advisory boards, academic partners, community leaders, and interviewers; •Create job descriptions for hiring both permanent and temporary positions; •Participate in hiring, when appropriate. Fiscal Management: •Monitor grant submission process; •Maintain and reconcile grant budgets and related documentation, including overall budget management; •Develop budget goals and objectives with the executive team; •Manage the allocation of resources and ensure sound fiscal management procedures are practiced; •Comply with UW, state, federal, and sponsoring-agency rules and regulations; •Meet audit standards; •Prepare financial reports including progress reports, evaluations, and final reports for funding and other agencies. Public Relations/Communications: •Work with communication specialist in developing, writing, editing, and dissemination of promotional and recruitment materials (press releases, reports, fact sheets, and manuscripts for publication and presentation) to insure dissemination of research findings; •Supervise content of websites and social media platforms; •Coordinate (with direction of PI) interviews with international, national and local media, newspapers, TV, radio, and web-based venues; •Assist in producing and coordinating conferences and community events including securing space, speakers, entertainment, programs, promotion of events and all related logistics. Perform other duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: •Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, Nursing, Communications or related field. •Minimum of six years of professional work experience to include project management or research project coordination. •Knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative data collection methods; •Excellent interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds; •Skill in balancing multiple demands simultaneously under time constraints; •Ability to self-motivate and work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team; •Experience with budgets, especially federal grant budgets; •Excellent writing and communication skills, particularly in the context of collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders; •Experience in the use and application of diverse technologies; •Excellent organizational skills including independently managing multiple tasks while ensuring attention to detail, accuracy, and quality results. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.
