The Speech & Language Pathologist will be responsible for:

Conducting in-clinic assessments and interventions for AAC from quick access to high tech, procuring insurance funding for devices and ongoing support throughout the course of the disease, as part of our Inter-professional team (SLPs and OT);
Participating in all ALS Program meetings
In addition to carrying this out as part of in-clinic evaluation, distance tele/video support for people with ALS who are referred but are unable to travel to Boston from across the country, focused on addressing proactive preservation of voice including the complete message banking process(tm), voice banking and double-dipping as well as introduction to early communication strategies while supporting the patient to partner with local resources.
This position also requires providing support to Massachusetts patients in their home/community based locations.

To qualify you must have:

ASHA CCC and Massachusetts state license.
2-3 years of directly related clinical experience in Augmentative Communication.
Provide support to Massachusetts patients in their home/community based locations.
A car is required for community based services.

Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.

The Jay S. Fishman ALS Augmentative Communication Program at Boston Children's Hospital is hiring a part-time (with option of full-time) ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist in the Waltham Outpatient site with ESTABLISHED expertise in Augmentative Communication assessment, intervention and assistive technologies for adults with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). In addition to the clinical case load, all clinicians are encouraged to participate in research focused on AAC assessment and implementation for people living with ALS and their families.
