Description Department Chair of Epidemiology/Biostatistics The School of Public Health (SPH) at West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking a Chairperson to provide academic leadership of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics to provide academic leadership. This is a unique opportunity to support, shape, and enhance our population health and statistical analysis focus in teaching and applied research within a recently unified and faculty supported department that currently includes 13 full-time faculty members, 8 in Epidemiology and 5 in Biostatistics. The Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accredited School currently employs approximately 60 faculty members and nearly 300 students that are currently enrolled in its Bachelors of Science (BS) program in Health Services Management and Leadership, BS program in Public Health, Masters of Public Health (MPH) program, Masters of Science (MS) program in Biostatistics, Masters of Health Administration (MHA) program, Occupational Medicine Residency Program, Public Health/General Preventive Medicine Residency Program, PhD program in Public Health Sciences, Applied Biostatistics Certificate, and Health Data Science Certificate. The School is located at a comprehensive health sciences center (HSC) that includes, but is not limited to, collaborative relationships with the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the state's flagship hospital, WVU Medicine, both located immediately adjacent to the School. In addition, a formal academic affiliation with the local health department exists, including a WVU Epidemiologist who is embedded in the local county health department, also located adjacent to the School/HSC. West Virginia University is a comprehensive, land-grant, Carnegie-designated University of High Research Activity, with 27,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Morgantown is consistently rated as one of the best small towns in the U.S., with affordable housing, excellent schools, a picturesque countryside, many outdoor recreational activities, and close proximity to major cities including Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C.
