This Clinical Research Specialist II will be responsible for: - Project lead for all aspects of genomics research priority cohort patients enrolled in the pulmonary biobank registry, including patient-facing consenting and data collection, communications with genetic testing lab, and coordinating with study MD's and Sr. Genetic Counselor.
- Track whole exome sequencing testing results, CLIA confirmatory reports, and coordinate with providers regarding special requests and results of genetic analysis.
- Coordinate with genomics testing laboratory and internal BCH genomics team to ensure proper DNA sample collections.
- Conduct medical record chart review for priority genetics cases.
- Assist Research Operations Manager with design of new genetics/genomics initiatives, including assisting with the writing and development of new IRB protocols, and designing standard operating procedures for new studies.
- Maintain all data collection records for priority cases, including excel documents and REDCap databases
- Maintain regulatory requirements, including preparing amendments and continuing reviews for IRB submissions. Maintain and organize study regulatory binders on an ongoing basis.
- Collaborate and closely partner with a strong research team that includes the pulmonary division chief, pulmonary clinicians and faculty, Sr. genetic counselor, research assistants, data managers, and Bioinformatician.
- Supervise, train and onboard junior and per diem staff, as requested.
- Provide other project management support, as requested by the Research Operations Manager or study PI/Division Chief.
- Coordinate weekly genetics meetings, including assisting with case presentations and preparing weekly agendas
To qualify, you must have: - The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or Masters of Science and 2 yrs relevant work experience.
- The analytical skills to gather and interpret data in which the information or problems are moderately complex to complex.
- Well-developed communication skills in order to provide critical information to patients, effectively deal with conflicting views or issues, and the ability to mediate fair solutions. Work also requires advanced writing skills.
- Extremely mature and dependable, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to operate independently with little supervision
- Familiarity with genetics, genomics and whole exome sequencing a plus
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving and time management skills
- REDCap and IRB experience (submitting amendments and continuing reviews) preferred
- Minimum of a 2 year commitment requested
