Position DescriptionThe Department of Pharmacy at the University of Washington, School of Pharmacy invites applications from highly motivated candidates for two full-time, 12-month service period, non- tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Teaching Professor level. The Assistant Teaching Professor will exercise independent clinical decision-making skills while also establishing team collaborations. The ideal candidate will be expected to teach, in both the classroom and in experiential settings. This successful candidate will be expected to use innovative approaches to teaching, including practice-related skills, and to design and coordinate courses. Candidates in all areas of pharmacy, including but not limited to general internal medicine, family medicine, and/or pediatrics are welcome to apply. As of Autumn 2020, The School of Pharmacy is in the second year of implementing its new curriculum (aka the Purple Curriculum). One of the highlights of the Purple curriculum is the innovative teaching platform; i.e., Wednesday-in-Practice (WIP), where Wednesdays are devoted to practice and application. Students alternate every other Wednesday between their assigned practice site and campus. WIP provides a platform for students to link practice experiences to what is being taught in the classroom early in their training. The successful candidate for this position will be expected to serve as an integral member of the WIP instructional team and engage in the implementation of the new curriculum. The successful candidate will also provide expertise and leadership to the School in the area(s) of pharmacy practice and have other teaching responsibilities, such as contributing to core content (e.g., disease-specific expertise and knowledge in pharmacotherapeutics).
