Department SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH - BLOO (BL-SPHB-IUBLA) Department Information The School of Public Health-Bloomington Information Technology Services (SPHBITS) serves the school's technology needs. The mission of the SPHBITS is to provide expert and responsive IT support for our faculty, staff, and students to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their teaching, research and service. Job Summary A Technology Support Specialist in the School of Public Health-Bloomington IT Services (SPHBITS) has four major responsibilities: diagnose, troubleshoot and take corrective measures on software, hardware, and network service requests; coordinate all equipment deliveries and confirm systems are current on updates, patches, and service packs, as well as, address any compatibility issues; assist in overseeing the reception station that is responsible for answering phones and addressing walk in traffic; diagnose, troubleshoot and take corrective measures as it relates to classroom technology emergencies. Collaborate with all other SPHBITS team members, and act as a liaison between customers and UITS' Tier-2 IT support. Required Qualifications Associate degree in computer science, computer systems technology or a closely related field and one year of computing/technical support experience in a customer service environment. Combinations of education and related experience may be considered. Experience using and/or supporting audio/visual equipment. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Team orientation and ability to work in a dynamic and diverse work environment. Organizational and time management skills, including ability to prioritize tasks and work independently. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with a wide diversity of individuals and groups, including regarding current work with others on the client support team or those they serve. Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation. Ability to work under stressful conditions while maintaining a positive attitude and professional demeanor. Proficiency in most recent version of Microsoft Windows, Macintosh and other important school-supported operating systems. Familiarity with common Microsoft Office productivity software, Adobe products, and other common software applications supported by SPHBITS. Ability to acquire training through the available university resources, as directed and approved by the supervisor. Experience with desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other peripherals. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Two years of experience. Experience with mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones.
