Position Function:

This position coordinates a community-engagement project that involves delivering virtual mental health gatekeeper trainings. Three primary functions of the position include getting trained as a Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor and Alliance Project Instructor, scheduling and delivering virtual mental health gatekeeper trainings, and managing day-to-day activities to meet and fulfill grant obligations.

Department Profile:

The Department of Food Science, Nutrition, and Health Promotion (FSNHP) at MSU offers an undergraduate degree with concentrations in nutrition, food science, and culinology; the Master of Science degree in the three concentrations of Nutrition, Food Science, and Health Promotion; and the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Nutrition and Food Science concentrations. Both the department and MSU focus strongly on preparing graduates to excel in their chosen professions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manage the administration of project daily.
2. Plan, develop, and implement project activities to ensure successful completion of goals.
3. Complete Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor training and Alliance Project Instructor
Training.
4. Deliver virtual mental health gatekeeper trainings.
5. Maintains data collection and analysis systems in support of research protocol; may
coordinate the collection of research data.
6. Prepares and maintains all Institutional Review Board (IRB) and regulatory paperwork to
comply with institutional regulatory requirements.
7. Manage the recruitment and relationship building of participants and collaborators and
provides instructions to meet the goals of the study.
8. Plans and coordinates mental health gatekeeper trainings and other meetings/events.
9. Monitors the progress of project; develops and maintains records of activities, and
prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by investigators, administrators, funding
agencies, and/or regulatory bodies.
10. Serve as a resource and technical assistance to participants, communities, as it relates
to focus areas.
11. Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion, Health Education, Health Sciences, Public Health,
Psychology, or related field.
* One (1) year related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's or PhD in Health Promotion, Health Education, Health Sciences, Public Health,
Psychology, or related field.
* Three (3) years related experience in administration, program coordination, teaching, or
related.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience in managing projects and leading project teams.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office Products, Virtual Meeting programs, and other computer-based programs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Organizational skills to include time management and multi-tasking.
Ability to work both independently and in diverse teams.
Ability to meet travel requirements of the position.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
Ability to work creatively within study goals.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

No unusual physical requirements. Requires lifting of files, records, and study materials.
Nearly all work is performed in an indoor facility. Frequent- External imposed deadlines; set
and revised beyond one's control; meeting of deadlines and coordination of related activities
are key to position; may involve conflict-resolution or similar interactions. Job requires
walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands. Job requires
delivering virtual trainings.
