As an Infection Preventionist This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora/Centennial Hospital of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. What you will do in this role: - As the Infection Preventionist, you will be responsible for the prevention, detection and control of infections in the facility.
- You will be responsible for establishing, instituting and maintaining an effective system for evaluation and reporting infections in patients.
- You will accomplish all of this based on a systematic body of professional knowledge.
What qualifications you will need: - Completion of Infection Control Surveillance course is preferred.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is desired, as employee becomes eligible to test for it.
- Degree in nursing or medical technology, or Master’s degree in public health.
- Experience in infection control or related areas such as nursing or microbiology.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrates knowledge of microbiology, normal flora, pathogens and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
