Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for The Northern New Jersey Medication-Assisted Treatment Center of Excellence (NNJ-MATrx-COE) within the Department of Psychiatry at the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School to assist with community resource assessment across northern New Jersey.

The NNJ-MATrx-COE aims to increase statewide capacity to provide high-quality substance use disorder care to the residents of New Jersey via targeted education for healthcare providers and their staff.

The Temporary Research Assistant will work with community stakeholders involved in the treatment and care of people with opioid use disorder living in northern New Jersey. Initially all work will be remote but there is a possibility for on-site work in the future. Assigned projects will focus on access to care, service capacity, and barriers and facilitators to care during COVID-19 and will also involve interfacing with the State. The final length of the internship will be determined by the scope of the projects but is expected to require at least 15 hours/week for 10 weeks.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Interfaces with physicians and other specialists concerning access to medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD).
• Maintains and updates a database of providers that offer MOUD.
• Assists with various research and technical operations relative to MOUD.
• As requested, assists in new programs and/or projects in special areas of interest to the NNJ-MATrx-COE.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Graduate student or recent graduate in a relevant field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Candidates with a background in public health (specifically substance use disorder treatment models, medications for opioid use disorder, and/or surveying).
