Compliance Specialist (Hospital)

| Job Summary Under general supervision of the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Specialist will assist with and support the compliance program activities of Denver Health (DH). This position supports the assessment, development, execution, monitoring and ongoing maintenance of compliance activities such as policies and procedures, education and training, compliance hotline reports and investigations, conflicts of interest, and sanction screenings. The Compliance Specialist conducts research and provides guidance related to state and federal laws and regulations which may include giving specific guidance to management, operational leadership, and departments. This position also assists in the development and rollout of compliance trainings and initiatives and monitor and report the status of completion. They are expected to work with external customers and vendors, as well as internal departments and staff throughout Denver Health to complete assigned duties and tasks.
Responsibilities 1. Draft, and/or revise and support implementation of healthcare and compliance - related policies.2. Collaborate with colleagues, providing strategic guidance on programs, initiatives and processes that have healthcare compliance-related implications to facilitate proactive compliance.3. Maintain logs of compliance inquiries and activities. Track research and disposition of compliance issues. May be asked to research and respond to routine compliance questions.4. Assist with the development and maintenance of forms, notices, and associated materials to reflect organizational processes as well as compliance.5. Proactively identify potential issues, support risk assessments and audits, and develop work plans to monitor and address identified risks6. Assist with monitoring activities for compliance with applicable laws and regulations and internal policies and procedures.7. Assess compliance-related educational needs and develop, implement, maintain and oversee training programs for compliance issues for the organization, including, for example, new employee orientation, annual online training, department or issue specific training8. Monitor communication avenues (e.g., compliance hotline, emails). 9. Assist with investigation processes and documentation, provide follow up and maintain logs.10. Active participation, input, and support in the daily functional requirements of the organization's Compliance Program.11. Build, develop, and maintain strong business relationships with colleagues on team and business and technology partners.12. Support corrective action plan development and management 13. Assist with other departmental projects and tasks, as required14. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of laws (Federal and State Anti-kickback Statutes, Sunshine transparency reporting laws, False Claims Act), regulations, industry guidance and best practices regarding compliant 3. Excellent organizational and project management skills, highly analytical with attention to detail and accuracy4. Able to follow directions and work independently.5. Concurrently handle multiple projects and tasks.6. Perform detailed work accurately and take initiative to learn new tasks.7. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, experience with electronic medical record or health plan claims processing systems
Education * Bachelor's Degree (Required) One year of experience in a compliance or legal function preferably in the hospital, provider or health plan setting.

Location Shift Work Type Pay Range Minimum: 48,027.20 Midpoint: 60,028.80 Maximum: 72,030.40 All job applicants for safety-sensitive positions must pass a pre-employment drug test, once a conditional offer of employment has been made.
