| A full-time laboratory Research Assistant I position is currently available with Dr. Hao Wu, in the Program in Cellular and Molecular Medicine (PCMM) at Boston Children's Hospital. The Wu laboratory of mechanistic immunology focuses on elucidating cellular and structural regulation in innate immune pathways, in particular the inflammasome pathway. We are seeking a research technician to assist with research projects and general lab tasks.
This Research Assistant I will be responsible for: - Under immediate supervision, performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory experimental, specimen preparations and experimental procedures for the purpose of research. Assists in the use of specialized laboratory equipment and analysis of data generated by this equipment
- Maintaining mammalian cells and insect cells and preparing laboratory reagents.
- Performing a variety of routine and specialized laboratory procedures, including DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, making and autoclaving media and other relevant procedures as necessary.
- Making stock solutions and LB agar plates for lab members.
- Assisting with lab supplies maintenance and receiving deliveries.
- Participating in laboratory meetings and presentations.
- Contributes to the team within and between departments and organizations.
To qualify, you must have: - The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in a STEM or related field (i.e. Biology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry).
- Strong organizational and communication skills .
- Analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.
- Preference will be given to applicants who have prior lab experience and who can start as soon as possible.
- A two-year commitment is strongly preferred.
