Regional Director of Emergency Services Seattle, Washington THE ROLE The Regional Director of Emergency Services will provide strategic leadership for the Swedish Region Emergency Department operations to ensure efficient and effective delivery of Emergency Services, a connected experience of care and clinical excellence for the patients that we serve. This includes directing business operations and all facets of clinical performance, volume growth, strategic operations, fiscal oversight, business plan implementations, and process improvements. This position leads and facilitates regional process strategy for clinical practice and operations for the 7 Emergency Departments. This position is responsible for standardizing the approach to Emergency Services care throughout the Swedish region. Plans, coordinates and supervises the clinical and administrative functions in accordance with system polices and goals. Plans and develops appropriate strategic relationships for the delivery of Emergency Services. Facilitates collaborative working relationships with programs and departments within the institutions to assure appropriate quality and coordination of care for all emergency patients. Works collaboratively with the Regional Emergency Department Medical Director to ensure optimal Emergency Service delivery to patients and medical staff. Collaborates with the Emergency Management team regarding emergency preparedness. This role is also accountable for the overall leadership, direction, and management of the First Hill Emergency Department, including oversight of the nurse manager and responsibility for the department's performance related to budget, quality outcomes, safety, patient experience, and caregiver engagement. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Regional Director of Emergency Services will have the following accountabilities: - Develops and implements Swedish Region goals and objectives for Emergency Services in conjunction with the Medical Director and COO/CNO; obtaining input from physicians, supervisors, staff, and hospital specific senior leaders. Additionally, partners and collaborates with the Emergency Management team around emergency preparedness.
- Develops an integrated process for preparing and implementing Swedish Region strategic plans for Emergency Services. Periodically reviews and updates strategic plans to reflect changing customer needs and strategic opportunities.
- Prepares Emergency Services capital equipment budget and operating budgets in collaboration with campus executives. Monitors Emergency Services operating statements to assure that budgetary goals are met; and significant deviations are adequately understood and appropriate action taken.
- In conjunction with Medical Director, physicians and leaders, and Clinical Education and Practice, develops common standards, protocols, policies and procedures for all activity of Emergency Services.
- Selects and develops Emergency Services leaders and members who will meet the qualitative, quantitative and Mission related goals established for Emergency Services.
- Develops and mentors relationships with ED Clinical Nurse leaders. Leads management team in planning, organizing and responding to identified trends and creates opportunities for growth, development and improvement of services.
- Develops and implements the delivery of Emergency Services through integration of services.

- In conjunction with the Medical Directors and ED Management Team, maintains Emergency Services in a state of readiness for inspections by accrediting agencies such as the State of Washington, Det Norske Veritas (DNV), and OSHA. Similarly, partners and collaborates with the Emergency Management team around emergency preparedness.???????
- Develops and promotes marketing strategies for Emergency Services.
- Works collaboratively with Medical Director and physicians to assure quality, timely and appropriate clinical services are provided to all patients.
- Provides leadership to Emergency Services in a way that maximizes quality through the development and implementation of quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives; cost effectiveness through efficient and effective delivery of quality clinical services; and supports the programs and operational needs through involvement and participation in program and service development in the system.
- Provides liaison with city, county, state and federal agencies and health care related organizations related to emergency preparedness as necessary.
- Promotes a culture of excellence, quality patient care, and outstanding patient experience.
QUALIFICATIONS Required education/experience for this position include: - Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or other alternatives (Health Administration, Public Health, or Business Administration).
- At least 5 years of experience in Emergency Services management; preferably in multi-institutional Emergency Services management.
- Licensed to practice registered nursing in state of Washington.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN).
- Current driver's license.
- Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team to accomplish strategies regional goals and objectives.
- Ability to manage multiple geographical sites effectively maintaining strong professional relationships at all locations
- Ability to effectively working with staff across different institutions to develop a standardized approach to patient care
- Demonstrates strategic and financial skills with the goal of positioning services to be cost-effective while meeting quality and service goals
- Ability to adapt and respond effectively to constantly changing service environments.
- Develop and maintain an effective team work environment
- In-depth working knowledge of clinical emergency services and management.
- Ability to prioritize and organize daily tasks in response to changing business needs.

- Overseeing compliance with extensive requirements from regulatory agencies for both Emergency Services
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and meeting schedules.
- Ability to interact positively and effectively with multi-department/service teams including hospitals and satellite facilities.
- Ability to serve as a change agent supporting integration concepts.
- Ability to conceptualize and implement new service delivery models to meet changing business needs.
- Ability to analyze data, codes, regulations, and practices to develop progressive and compliant programs including DNV.
- Ability to understand customer needs and deliver services to meet their needs.
- Ability to represent Swedish professionally and build collaborative relationships with various public and community agencies or organizations.
- Knowledge of business management practices and techniques.
