Requirements The Institute for Reproductive Health (IRH) within Georgetown University's Center for Child and Human Development is dedicated to improving the sexual and reproductive health of women, men and youth through a research-to-practice agenda. Our emphasis is on increasing access to and use of family planning, increasing fertility awareness through life-stage appropriate interventions, expanding access to fertility awareness-based family planning methods in an informed choice context, and developing scalable interventions to transform gender norms and catalyze the diffusion of social norms that support family planning. Cross-cutting themes in the Institute's work include the diffusion of social norms that support adolescent sexual and reproductive health, incorporating gender perspectives in reproductive health and scale-up of innovations. In partnership with a wide range of international and local organizations, IRH conducts research, builds capacity, and provides technical assistance to public and private-sector organizations in lower and middle-income countries and the U.S. The Institute is supported by grants from federal agencies and foundations. The Senior Program Officer works independently and is responsible for technical, programmatic and research-related activities for assigned projects. The Senior Program Officer may lead or participate in new business development efforts, identify opportunities for new business, and act as technical and programmatic staff for new grants. In addition, the Senior Program Officer will supervise staff, interns, or other related roles to support project efforts. Work Interactions The Senior Program Officer will report to Senior Research Officers and Senior Technical staff on related projects and activities. The Senior Program Officer will interact with Project Directors and Senior Faculty and Staff on a regular basis. The Senior Program Officer will work closely with faculty and programmatic staff developing team-based management and communication systems, identifying solutions for programmatic and research challenges and facilitating team relationships between projects, teams and partners. The Senior Program Officer will also be an active supervisor of staff (one or several, depending), and mentor other staff and interns as deemed appropriate. The Senior Program Officer will also be in contact and in direct management of project partners and consultants on a regular basis and as such, will be responsible for technical and operational management of partner and consultant work deliverables.
