POSITION SUMMARY:

This position within the Center for Prevention of Progression in collaboration with faculty investigators and the research team is responsible for data collection, data management and data quality of national and/or institutional cancer databases (or an equivalent large-scale project).

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintains data collection, data management, and data quality of large scale institutional and databases (or an equivalent large-scale project).
2. Collaborates with disease-specific faculty investigators and other team members on data transfers, data cleaning, creating and analyzing large datasets and other data management issues relevant to epidemiological research.
3. Responsible for the development of data presentation slides for meetings and conferences on supported projects.
4. Works on clinical data abstraction and database updates across several projects.
5. Consults with and advises project staff on data issues during project development and implementation.
6. Generates reports and de-identified datasets for internal and external collaborators.
7. Designs processes for maintaining timely, complete and high-quality data collection.
8. Formulating management techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data.
9. Devising and implementing efficient and secure procedures for data management and analysis with attention to all technical aspects.
10. Implement strategy for data cleaning and the design and programming of clinical databases.
11. Review and approve design, data review ground rules and database design according to Standard Operating procedures and protocol.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for directly or indirectly overseeing research data entry by coordinators associated with data annotation projects.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

-Master of Public Health or Master of Science degree or related degree with 2+ years of related experience preferred.

-Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Biostatistics or Epidemiology with 2-3 years of related experience.

-Must have the ability to function independently.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

-Knowledge of cancer as a disease process.

-Must have experience with database development and data analysis. 

-Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are required.

-Must have computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office.

-Skilled at managing, analyzing and interpreting large clinical datasets.

-Familiarity with statistical analysis software including SAS, Stata and R software.
