County of San Joaquin Seeks Public Health Professional APHO: $171,872 to $208,915 Annually DOE/DOQ
ASSISTANT PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICER – MEDICAL & PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE PROGRAMS (APHO) This position must be a licensed MD in one of the US states, but will obtain an unrestricted physician and surgeon license to practice medicine in the state of California (see details in How to Apply). The County of San Joaquin is currently seeking a dynamic public health professional to serve as the Assistant Public Health Officer (APHO) to help lead the Public Health Services Department and oversee the medical and various public health programs and provide public health leadership in the community. This position is very public facing and will act as the Public Health Officer in their absence. Successful candidates are licensed physicians who have a thorough understanding of public health and a passion for fostering healthy communities. This position will effectively serve as a subject matter expert and is part of the executive team for the Public Health Services Division for the County of San Joaquin. This position will directly interface with County executives, medical professionals, local and state officials, community partners, health and human service professionals and agencies, as well as County residents. THE JOB / IDEAL CANDIDATE: This position is an at-will position and embraces PHS’ evolving horizontal leadership style and works closely with other managers across the department as part of the management team. The candidate will “model the way” of staff to experiment with new ways to work across programmatic boundaries.
