Job Duties:
Job Description: The SUSTAIN Wellbeing COMPASS Coordinating Center exists to enhance HIV/AIDS prevention efforts by incorporating attention to the role of wellness, trauma, mental health, and substance use, and to increase HIV treatment engagement. Efforts are focused primarily in the Southern United States that have the highest rates of HIV/AIDS. The SUSTAIN Wellbeing COMPASS Coordinating Center works closely with the other two COMPASS Coordinating Centers (the COMPASS Capacity Building and Shared Knowledge Needs Coordinating Center and the COMPASS Awareness, Education and Anti-Stigma Campaign Needs Coordinating Center) to coordinate and synergize efforts, minimize redundancy, and ensure the efficient use of resources. The work of the SUSTAIN Wellbeing COMPASS Coordinating Center will ultimately: (a) reduce new HIV infections through intensifying HIV prevention efforts in communities in the South where HIV is most heavily concentrated, and expand efforts to prevent HIV infection using a combination of effective, evidence-based approaches that tackle wellness, mental health, trauma, and substance use; and b) increase access to evidence-based, culturally-competent, individualized care, with increased treatment engagement and improved health outcomes, for people living with HIV, by taking deliberate steps to increase the capacity of HIV service organizations in the Southern states.
