The Physician Assistant will be responsible for: - Working primarily with the pediatric emergency medicine attending physicians and fellows, as well as with pediatric and emergency medicine resident physicians.
- Caring for patients with all types of conditions in the Emergency Department in collaboration with PEM physicians.
- Eliciting histories, performing examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, performing basic emergency medicine procedures.
- Developing care plans with patients and families including prescribing medications, therapeutic treatments, and coordinating specialist care. Instructing and counseling patients regarding physical and mental health issues.
- Clinical reasoning, which includes clinical decision-making, critical thinking.
- Evaluating practice and creating changes through research utilization and experiential learning.
- Respecting the patient and family leading to compassionate and empathetic care.
- Facilitating colleague, patient and family learning.
- Working to promote and encourage optimal and realistic patient goals.
- Systems Thinking: Body of knowledge that allows the physician assistant to manage and improve system resources.
- Working fulltime: 9-10 hour shifts rotating days/evenings with the potential for overnights when needed.
To qualify, you must have: - A Master's from a Physician Assistant program.
- A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Physician Assistant.
- The ability to work in collaboration with emergency medicine physicians, nurses, mid-level providers and administrative staff.
- The analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experience-based knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills.
