Position Summary:

Rutgers, the State University Of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Student Assistant for the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology within the School of Public Health (SPH).

The Student Assistant’s main function is to assist with project coordination and implementation of the Firefighter Cancer Assessment & Prevention Study (CAPS). This position will be responsible for data collection, management, cleaning, and analysis. This position will also assist with project management and the preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts related to study findings.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Assists with ongoing data collection (both quantitative and qualitative) and project coordination for CAPS.
• Attends and prepares agendas for weekly research team meetings.
• Assists with data cleaning and database management within REDCap.
• Helps facilitate study activities in the field.
• Reviews selected literature relevant to study activities.
• Prepares summaries and reports.
• Assists with Institutional Review Board submissions and maintenance of approvals.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Must be a current Rutgers student.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and statistical computing software (SAS).
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Must possess ability to pay close attention to detail and collaborate with research team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled as a graduate student at Rutgers School of Public Health (SPH), or successfully completed MPH graduate program.

Salary: $18/hour
