Overview: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) sponsored Collaborative Quality Initiatives (CQI) are statewide quality improvement programs whose goals are to improve quality, safety, and clinical outcomes for specific healthcare procedures or medical conditions across the state of Michigan (https://www.uofmhealth.org/quality-safety/clinical-quality-collaboratives). Each CQI is organized and facilitated by a Coordinating Center, led by Program Directors and Co-directors (physicians and nurses), and a Manager. A CQI’s staffing typically includes Quality Improvement (QI) coordinators, project managers and analysts. UM provides the Coordinating Centers for 16 of the 17 current CQIs. Role Summary: We are looking for a user-centered and strategic leader with the ability to leverage health and health care data to envision and execute marketing goals. In this position, you will turn statewide electronic health data streams into marketing opportunities with target audiences of clinicians, hospitals and health systems, and diverse patient communities across the state of Michigan. You will lead a team of designers and communicators and collaborate closely with our data analytics team to develop web and informatics products that engage clinicians, health administrators, and patients in ways that lead to better health outcomes, improved patient experience, and more efficient and effective health care across the state. This position plays a key leadership role in a newly established Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM)-based Collaborative Quality Initiative (CQI). The statewide initiative for preventive health and chronic disease prevention and care will find new ways to leverage data insights, marketing strategies, and informatics, to incentivize imprvements to preventive health care quality. The Clinical Informatics Strategist position was created to fill a critical need to develop and execute a cohesive and forward-thinking strategy for public-facing, patient-facing, hospital and health-system facing communications to support a wide range of initiatives are part of the BCBS CQI initiatives at the University of Michigan. As the Clinical Informatics Strategist, you will work side-by-side with a diverse network of academic and non-academic clinicians, health care executives and administrators, public health and health behavior specialists, content creators, data/web/information designers, and patient representatives. This candidate is part web product manager, part user experience designer, and part marketing leader, completely committed to bridging health care, business, and communication technology, in service of the health and wellbeing of diverse communities across the state of Michigan.
