Job Summary
Under the general supervision of a pharmacist and in conjunction with clinical staff, the specialty pharmacy technician is responsible for supporting pharmacy services with specialty practices. An approach to total quality patient care encompasses working closely with team member to manage patient's medications and overall health.This position will provide integrated support to patients and team members of the care team with disease-specific patient management programs and collaboration with providers and patients to ensure prescribed therapies are delivered within prescribed timelines. Clinical and technical knowledge is utilized to operate web-based applications, work in Microsoft Word and Excel and staying updated on evolving regulatory and industry standards that are relevant and ensure that appropriate action is initiated and communicate these trends to applicable personnel. Responsibilities
*Ensure that every patient who can benefit from specialty pharmacy services is identified and met in clinic or called upon to explain the benefits of enrolling into our patient management program. *Onboard patients into the specialty pharmacy program. *Perform benefits investigation/verification, navigate insurance claims, assist with prior authorization submission and renewals, enroll eligible patients into manufacture patient assistance and co-pay programs or assist patients without health insurance by connecting with the Enrollment department as applicable to ensure patients have access to the medication needed. *Oversee services provided to enrolled patients from ensuring that everything from order entry to final verification is completed quickly, accurately and in accordance with patient's needs. *Provide direct support to enrolled patients to ensure that they are supported throughout their therapy regimen and achieve their intended outcome. This includes: oConduct outbound phone calls for patient support, adherence checks, refill reminders and delivery coordination. oTriage any clinical questions to an appropriate pharmacist. *Contact patients to resolve rejected claims, request payment information, establish priority of order or delivery details and inform patients about medication issues. *Participate in developing new and/or improved processes for efficient, safe fulfillment of specialty medications. *Provide exceptional customer service and serve as a role model by mentoring pharmacy technicians, interns and students. *Displays effective file management by maintaining documentation and detailed records of specialty pharmacy program, medications dispensed, and value of medications provided to patients per program standard of practice. *Work cooperatively with other staff members and clinic staff to achieve company business and compliance goals/objectives. *Other duties as assigned. *Knowledge of health care administration, including Medicare, managed care, Medicaid and CHP+ eligibility and enrollment processes. *Knowledge of federal and Colorado statutes, legislative initiatives and regulations, as well as federal, State and local policies. *Excellent communication and organizational skills. *Analytical thinking, problem solving, and process improvement skills. *Strong customer service and communication skills. *Ability to work independently and with little supervision. *Ability to simultaneously coordinate and manage several functions, programs, and projects in various stages of completion. *Ability to consistently implement program, department and organizational policies and procedures. *Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills in all interactions with internal and external healthcare team members. *Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills in all interactions with patients. Education * High School Diploma or GED (Required) * Completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.* Mandatory one year of pharmacy experience within the Denver Health Ambulatory Pharmacy Department

Credentials * PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician (Required) Pharmacy Technician Certification with Colorado SBOP is required. Location Shift Work Type Pay Range Minimum: 19.08 Midpoint: 23.85 Maximum: 28.62 All job applicants for safety-sensitive positions must pass a pre-employment drug test, once a conditional offer of employment has been made.
