Job Summary Under close supervision, provides cleaning, bed linen change out, floor care, moving, grounds and project services as directed by supervisor. May also perform specific interior and exterior Medical Housekeeping cleaning duties to maintain a clean and aseptic environment throughout the hospital/clinics. The individual may be assigned to any one of several positions to include: patient area cleaner, non-patient area cleaner, trash technician, special care unit cleaner, and/or other.
Responsibilities 1. Gathers and empties trash.2. Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them. 3. Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. 4. Strips, seals, finishes, and polishes floors.5. Cleans windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.6. Mixes water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.7. Changes bed linens.8. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge, Skills and Abilities1. Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and understand English at a level necessary for successful job performance.2. Skill in understanding and following oral, illustrated, written or demonstrated instructions.3. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work within Health Department standards.4. Knowledge of and/or ability to learn occasional hazards and safety precautions. 5. Knowledge of the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. 6. Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safety work environment. 7. Knowledge of chemicals and equipment used to clean surface areas sufficient to be able to maintain a clean and orderly work area. 8. Knowledge of proper cleaning methods.
Education * High School Diploma or GED
Experience
6 months to 1 year experience in custodian services and or housekeeping experience. Location Shift Work Type All job applicants for safety-sensitive positions must pass a pre-employment drug test, once a conditional offer of employment has been made.
