Full-time days The professional we select for this promising role will act as a resource for problem-solving issues related to infection prevention. Completing 24/7 on-call assignments as scheduled, this individual will ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), Illinois and the McHenry County Departments of Public Health, and The Joint Commission, as well as recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Additional responsibilities will include: - Performing surveillance rounds on all designated units as assigned.
- Collecting and analyzing infection information for patients and healthcare personnel.
- Serving as a leader/mentor and subject-matter expert to staff in areas related to infection prevention.
- Investigating significant clusters of infections, infectious outbreaks, or significant incidents.
- Collaborating with managers and staff to implement and monitor best practices and corrective action plans related to infection prevention.
- Preparing and analyzing reports using a variety of software packages.
- Presenting the findings of surveillance data and investigations/studies to appropriate individuals and the Committee on Infection Control and Prevention (CIC).
- Collaborating with Corporate Health in all areas relating to staff issues involving infectious disease exposures.
- Completing and submitting reportable data to local, state, and national agencies.
- Presenting lectures, orientation and training related to infection prevention.
- Conducting compliance monitoring for hand hygiene and adherence to established policy to assure patient and staff safety.
- Participating in Environment of Care (EOC) rounds and providing recommendations for remediation.

- Two or more years of recent clinical experience in an acute-care setting as an RN, medical technologist, epidemiologist and/or an advanced degree in public health or a related healthcare field
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and working knowledge of statistical data analysis techniques
- State licensure or advanced degree, depending on professional clinical background
Preferred: - One or more years of infection control experience
- Two or more years of post-graduate study in a healthcare related field, epidemiology and/or public health
- Knowledge of regulatory standards as they relate to infection prevention
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Certification in infection control from the Certification Board for Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc.
- If not certified, attainment of certification within three years of appointment to the role
