Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: EDUCATION: Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy required. South Carolina Medical License. LICENSURE: Current unrestricted State license to practice medicine. Board certification in Pediatrics required. Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship and/or Hospice Medical Director certified preferred. Five years of experience in healthcare, ideally a combination of pediatric acute care and hospice care/public health experience. Experience with a home based care delivery service is a plus. EXPERIENCE: Prior supervisor/management experience. Experience with terminally ill patients. Experience in effective pain management and symptom control. Requires demonstrated interpersonal, supervisory, and management skills with ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrates proven decision making and financial management skills. Exhibits working knowledge of regulations and reimbursement in hospice care as well as proven leadership abilities. Respected by physician peers and has the ability and willingness to act as a liaison from the hospice to other physicians. Commitment to hospice philosophy and care techniques. TRANSPORTATION: Reliable transportation. HEALTH STATUS: Meets all applicable agency policies and procedures related to physical exam and required testing. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS 1.Complete required work on a daily basis. 2.Cope with work involving ill, disabled, and dying patients. 3.Sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently. Must be able to lift at least 25lbs and bear the weight of an average adult effectively so as to be able to perform the above listed functions. 4.Move equipment and supplies necessary for job functions. 5.Read in a 12 point or larger type, speak and write English in order to fulfill job functions in an understandable way. 6.See/hear or use prosthetics that enable accomplishment of job. 7.Meet the health requirements of the agency. 8.Possible exposure to infectious diseases. 9.Abide by all occupational safety and bloodborne pathogen protocol to minimize illness and/or injury. 10.Move, support and/or transfer patients as required to perform essential functions of position. |
