Department: Sch Health & Applied Human Sciences - 31530 Brief Summary of Work for this position: The School of Health and Applied Human Sciences, within the College Health and Human Services at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), seeks an outstanding faculty member for an Assistant Professor, nine-month, tenure-track position in the School's Recreation, Sport Leadership and Tourism Management program beginning August 2021. The successful candidate will become one of five faculty that serve approximately 150 undergraduate Recreation, Sport Leadership and Tourism Management majors. The successful candidate will be a Recreation, Sport Leadership and Tourism Management generalist who can teach a variety of undergraduate courses in the program's curriculum. Further, the successful candidate will conduct research, publish, write grants, advise students, and provide community engagement and professional service. The candidate will also assume key responsibilities related to the internship, practicum, and fieldwork experiences. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience : Preference will be given to candidates who have the following qualifications: Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: The School of Health and Applied Human Sciences (SHAHS) has five undergraduate degree programs: The SHAHS also has Master of Science degrees in: o(Bachelors / Masters) with Public Health / Gerontology oRecreation Therapy / Gerontology oExercise Science / Gerontology The SHAHS also supports a Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and a Masters of Education concentration in Physical Education and Health through the Watson College of Education. College/School Information: The College of Health and Human Services was created in July 2010 to provide UNCW with a new mechanism to link and focus its health-related research, professional continuing education, and health knowledge dissemination and application. In the formative stage of development, the CHHS is currently home to three professional schools: School of Health and Applied Human Sciences, School of Nursing, and School of Social Work.
