Job Summary: The LPN is responsible for facilitating quality patient care and treatment within the scope of his/her license by providing medical/surgical assistance to physicians and registered nurses and by preparing patients for visits. In addition, the LPN may screen calls, schedule appointments and follow-up visits, and provide nursing care as authorized by current certifications. Additional Department Summary: The staff nurse provides direct nursing care to residents, assists in the training and maintenance of resident's ability to recognize and identify their medications as their own, delegates and supervises the care provided by resident aides. Administers medications, performs treatments and procedures, obtains specimens as needed, and completes documentation as required. Required Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or the equivalent. Basic knowledge in the usage of personal computers. Must be licensed as a LPN in the State of Alabama in good standing. Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience working as a Licensed Practical Nurse, including experience and awareness of the needs of Geriatric Residents. Knowledge of the Alabama Department of Public Health Rules & Regulations for Assisted Living and Specialty Care Assisted Living Facilities. Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of DETA Care and Dementia in the elderly.
