The Department of Public Health Sciences at Xavier University of Louisiana invites applicants for 2 tenure-track positions in public health at the early career assistant professor level to begin fall 2021. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Public Health with an emphasis in any area of Epidemiology or Behavioral Public Health, including (but not limited to) Epidemiology, Health Promotion, Health Equity, Nutrition, or Maternal and Child Health. The Department is seeking candidates with research and teaching interests in epidemiology, health equity, or health promotion. The ideal candidate for either of the positions will demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and research with undergraduate and graduate students. Teaching responsibilities include epidemiology, biostatistics, determinants of health, nutrition, behavioral theory, qualitative and quantitative analysis, health literacy, and program planning and evaluation courses. Our faculty members are active scholars, who lead externally funded research and community projects. Applications are encouraged from applicants with a strong background in any current or emerging areas of epidemiology and health promotion including, but not limited to health equity, social epidemiology, health disparities, nutrition, or maternal and child health. The department is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from HBCU and underrepresented backgrounds, minimizing barriers and increasing equity and completion rates between members of different demographic groups. Duties: Required Qualifications: • Ph.D. in Public Health or related doctorate with an emphasis in any area of Epidemiology, Health Promotion, Health Equity, or Behavioral Health (conferred by the time of appointment).
