The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Saint Michael's College (Colchester, VT) invites applications for a tenure track position starting AY 2021 with a three course teaching load per semester. The Sociology and Anthropology Department houses a vibrant major that joins sociology and anthropology in the task of cultivating curiosity, empathy, cultural awareness and critical thinking around issues of social justice in the classroom, in the community, and abroad. We seek a sociologist with strong teaching and research strengths in one or more of the following areas: race and ethnicity, stratification and inequality, social change and social movements, social policy, social theory, and critical theory. Though the position is housed in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, we encourage applications from individuals who can also contribute to the interdisciplinary programs of Public Health and/or Criminology. Applicants with an interest in community-based learning and a commitment to undergraduate education in the liberal arts are particularly encouraged to apply. Teaching load is three courses per semester. Opportunities also exist to collaborate with and mentor student research.
