The Children's Surgery Verification Program Manager (CSPM) is responsible for assisting in the management of quality, patient safety, and performance improvement activities in accordance with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Children's Surgery Verification program requirements and national standards. In collaboration with the Senior Surgical Advisor for Quality and Safety and Surgical Clinical Reviewers, manages the comprehensive review of surgical care across the continuum and facilitates a multidisciplinary improvement approach. The Surgical Program Manager will be responsible for: - Managing the continual organizational assessment and preparation for maintaining Level I Children's Surgery Center status, including successful completion of the verification application and site visit on a 3-year cycle.
- Supporting the Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) Committee by preparing agendas and presentations for monthly planning meetings and quarterly committee meetings. Seeing that attendance, records/minutes and follow-up are prompt and accurate.
- Overseeing the collection, validation, and analysis of data submitted to the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program - Pediatric (NSQIP-P) and participating in case review.
- Conducting root cause analyses of performance issues.
- Working with multiple departments, quality analysts and physicians to evaluate and address specific quality issues.
- Identifying and coordinating the development of policies, procedures, case reviews and actions plans.
To qualify, you must have: - Registered Nurse with at least 2 yrs of experience in pediatric surgery.
- BSN Degree, MSN preferred.
- Current MA nursing license.
- Leadership/Supervisor experience in education or clinical management of a health care team.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in use of computers and related software.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement principles and practices (i. e., rapid cycle improvement, Lean Six Sigma, dashboards, etc.), project management, patient safety concepts preferred. Skill in data analysis, data management and statistical process control and the ability to draw meaningful conclusions.
- Proven leadership skills.
