The Business Services Student Financial Services department at the University of Montana invites applications for a Director of Student Accounts Services to join their team on campus. This position is expected to administer the Student Account Services area of Business Services, including the payment phase of the registration process and delivery of all financial aid. The employee in this position will administer the management of the federal and institutional student loan programs to comply with generally accepted accounting and cash management practices, consumer collection laws and practices, and federal, state, and donor regulations and requirements. This position must provide guidance and assistance with loan programs and is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of applicable state and federal rules and regulations. This knowledge is then applied to creating, updating, implementing, and providing training, and in establishing procedures and guidelines to ensure efficient operations of the Accounts Receivable and Student Loan Collection functions of Business Services. The individual in this position is also responsible for ensuring students' financial transactions are handled efficiently and accurately, in compliance with applicable university, state, and federal regulations. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing policy regarding student accounts and is responsible for all areas of the University's centralized Accounts Receivable system. The Director of Student Accounts Services manages Student Accounts, Loan Collection, Cashiering, and Non-Student Receivable functions. The employee in this position interacts with University staff, students, University administrators, and funding entities to help ensure procedures are streamlined, efficient and meet mission standards. It is also expected they collaborate with financial aid, registrar, and other offices to resolve issues with student accounts in a timely fashion, especially during high volume times of the year. The person assigned to this position manages and coordinates activities of staff engaged in keeping complete records of tuition and fees and other receipts for the institution. As the Director of Student Accounts Services, it is expected to oversee the overall operations of student accounts services, billing and receivables, and cashiering functions of the University. The individual in this position provides direction in fiscal policies review and changes and helps ensure compliance with university, state, and federal regulations and standard accounting procedures. The employee in this position will consistently encourage customer service-oriented interactions with students, parents, and University administrators. This position is responsible for hiring, firing, coaching, evaluating, and supervising the Assistant Manager of Student Financial Services, the Student Loan Specialist, Student Accounts Specialists, and Treasury Staff. Additionally, this position provides oversight and leadership for the entire team. The person in this position evaluates the performance of the individuals supervised, as well as the team as a whole. This position requires incumbent to develop a working knowledge of Banner Finance, Banner Student, ECSI federal loan system, institutional loan system, and PC software in general (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.); ability to interpret University, state, and federal policies and procedures; and a working knowledge of federal financial aid Title IV & US Department of Health & Human Services, Public Health Services Act and Title VII regulations, university registration and fee payment policies, contract laws and privacy laws.
