Applications accepted only online at www.tarleton.edu/jobs Primarily responsible for directing the Nutrition Science program, teaching/learning processes, and will also participate in the necessary operations of the institution. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate. Responsibilities: 60% Teaching and Service: Teach lectures and laboratories within the Nutrition Science Program in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences and Public Health as assigned. Develop, implement and review effective teaching/learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology and other tools; Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current levels of student knowledge in the discipline; Develop a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning, including expectations of student competency and student learning outcomes; Work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify strengths and weaknesses and identify professional development activities to improve student learning. Maintain appropriate schedule of office hours and advising for student access and inquiry; Work in partnership with student success personnel on student advising and orientation. Participate in institutional service roles such as but not limited to, university committees, college committees, club sponsorship, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment and mentoring of new and part-time faculty. 20% Director of the Nutrition Science Program: the applicant will be expected to advise students, interact with Didactic Programs in Dietetics (DPD) consortium coordinator to maintain program compliance with ACEND accreditation requirements, and meet ACEND requirements for program director. Additional duties include: responsibility for the organization, administration, instruction, evaluation, continuous quality improvement, curriculum planning and development, directing other program faculty/staff, and general effectiveness of the program; participation in the budget preparation process; maintain RD credential according to the policies set forth by the Commission on Dietetic Registration; engaging in a minimum of 75 hours of documented continuing professional development every 5 years; having regular and consistent contact with students, faculty and program personnel. Performs other duties as assigned by Department Head. 20% Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity: Demonstrate a record of ongoing research, scholarship or creative activity appropriate to your academic discipline. Education and Experience: -Tenure-track faculty members in the rank of assistant professor shall hold the earned doctorate or other terminal degree approved by the University and recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as appropriate to the academic area they serve. Teachers of record must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards which normally include a Masters degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area or suitable approved justification. -Teaching experience in higher education setting.
