The purpose of the University of Tennessee/Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Managed Care Residency is to train the pharmacy resident to become a proficient clinician in a dynamic pharmacy practice including areas of managed care, mental health, addiction and health policy. The pharmacy resident will work in capacities including: clinical services at a Regional Mental Health Institute, managed care and health policy at the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, Division of Clinical Leadership, and teaching responsibilities through the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy. Upon completion of the program, the pharmacy resident will be prepared for employment as a pharmacist in a variety of pharmacy practice areas including but not limited to: pharmacy benefit manager programs, state Medicaid programs, health policy, clinical psychiatric or addictionology specialty practice, or entry into a PGY2 residency training program.
