Clinical Responsibilities: The resident will participate in safe, evidence-based, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care. All patient care activities are under the supervision of attending pharmacists and commensurate with the resident’s level of training as determined by the residency program. The resident will communicate effectively with supervising attending pharmacists regarding his/her patient evaluation, interpretation of diagnostic tests, and plan of care and intended therapeutic interventions. Additionally, the resident will provide oral and written consultations focused on improving patient outcomes and enhancing communication with the health care team. Academic Responsibilities: The resident is required to participate in didactic, experiential, and co-curricular education of pharmacy and other health professions’ students and residents. The resident may elect to participate in the longitudinal Teaching Certificate (PRSTL) Program. Research Responsibilities: The resident is also responsible for the development, implementation, and completion of a research project suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. The objective is to develop the resident's skills in problem identification, investigation, and solution. One strength of the program is that each resident is paired with a PhD student for research mentorship. The results will be presented at the Southwestern States Residency Conference and the American Pharmacists Association Annual Meeting. Business & Administration Responsibilities: The resident will write and implement a business plan for a new financially sustainable clinical pharmacy service under the tutelage of prominent faculty in the area of pharmacy innovation. Weekend Staffing/On-call Responsibilities: The resident is required to staff one Saturday every calendar month. Weekend staffing shifts consist of evaluating patients, triaging problems and precepting pharmacy interns during the provision of care at the SinfoníaRx Medication Management program.Benefits and Financial Provisions: The salary for this program is competitive with similar residency programs nationwide. The resident is entitled to all benefits provided to full time University of Arizona appointed personnel. Funds may be provided to help offset travel expenses to selected state and national meetings Salary: $51,659 Applicant Minimal Requirements: The PGY2 program proudly accepts two candidates each year (1-Traditional & 1-International) • All Applicants (Traditional & International): Be a graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited degree program (or one in process of pursuing accreditation) or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). • Have successfully completed an ASHP Accredited (or one in process pursuing accreditation) PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program as confirmed by submission of a copy of their PGY1 Completion Certificate to the RPD no later than the first day of the PGY2 residency. • Be eligible for licensure in Arizona • International Applicants Only: Be a sponsored international applicant.
