The Collaborative Health Studies Coordinating Center (CHSCC) is an academic organization with over 25 years of experience running multi-site epidemiologic studies and clinical trials. The center is a collaborative effort involving faculty, staff and students from the Departments of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the University of Washington. The CHSCC consists of teams of programmers, biostatisticians, epidemiologists and project managers who provide expertise in study design, data collection and management, and statistical analysis, funded by grants and contracts worth over $10M annually to the University. The mission is to support studies that further scientific inquiry in areas that will ultimately impact public health. In order to meet current and emerging needs, we are seeking a Sr. Computer Specialist to support major projects. CHSCC within the Department of Biostatistics has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Computer Specialist. The Sr. Computer Specialist will work collaboratively and independently to help manage the Coordinating Center applications and data. This includes work on study data collection forms (REDCap), application maintenance and upgrades on our in house specimen tracking system (Python/Django) and developing and maintaining reports related to the study data collected, progress of the study, and quality control. The reports (Python/Pandas) will be integrated into the study website for real-time status updates. At times, the Sr. Computer Specialist may need to communicate with personnel at the field centers to trouble shoot problems with the data entry system. S/he will also work in a team with other programming staff and will integrate their work into the broader study applications and systems. The Sr. Computer Specialist ensures the study data is collected accurately, completely, efficiently, and securely. The Sr. Computer Specialist will design data entry systems in a user-friendly method for the participants and clinic staff completing forms as well as test and debug any potential problems with the applications and electronic data capture forms s/he has developed. QUALIFICATIONS: •Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical or Scientific Discipline. Experience may substitute for degree. •At least 2-3 years of experience programming in Python and Django (or similar). Familiarity with MySQL, Git, Pandas Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
