Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.Preferred Qualifications:B.S. in public health, communications, community planning, early childhood education, human development and family studiesExperience using SMART goals and objectives (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-Bound) Experience working with diverse research teams and capacity to understand and translate research into actionable goals. 5 years of experience in community planning and/or public policy Experience in facilitating needs assessment and strategic planning Knowledge and understanding of early childhood issues Experience giving presentations to a variety of adult audiences Job Description:Iowaâs Integrated Data System for Decision-Making (I2D2) is a state-university partnership between Early Childhood Iowa (ECI) and Iowa State University to support evidence-based policymaking at the state level and in local Iowa communities. I2D2 addresses a persistent and urgent need for program and policy leaders to have more accessible and actionable intelligence about the needs and service utilization patterns of Iowa children and families to inform coordinated programming and strategic planning. It brings together stakeholders across public health, human services, education, and workforce development to identify priority issues in communities, integrate and analyze relevant data about child and family needs and service utilization patterns, and engage in dialogue to improve decision-making that advances service effectiveness and efficiency for Iowa children and families. The Director of Outreach and Strategic Planning will work at the intersection of this state and university partnership, serving as a liaison bringing expertise in collective impact approaches and stakeholder engagement to best facilitate the use of data-driven decision-making at state and local levels. In collaboration with the Iowa Department of Management (home of Early Childhood Iowa), the Director will implement activities related to the stateâs strategic plan for improving service coordination among early childhood programs, including providing coordination support with the stateâs first fully integrated administrative data system for policy analysis (I2D2). The successful candidate will join a productive team of investigators led by Drs. Heather Rouse and Cassandra Dorius (see http://www.hdfs.hs.iastate.edu/ for more information about the HDFS department including faculty homepages), and ECI leadership including Shanell Wagler and Amanda Winslow. Qualified candidates will possess strong leadership and communication skills, community organizing and relationship building, local and national fundraising, and ability to translate research into strategic community and state-level plans. Renewal of position contingent on funding This is a term position with the possibility of renewal. The University is in the process of implementing a new classification and compensation structure. The impending change is expected to be completed by Fall 2020.
