The College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (CNMS) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty and course developer positions for Translational Life Science Technology (TLST) classes beginning Fall 2019 at its branch campus at The Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville, Maryland. The TLST program is a Bachelor of Science for graduates of community college or junior-level students from 4-year institutions interested in working in the biotechnology industry. The program educates students on translational science, which is the processes of turning scientific discoveries into life-saving solutions, by combining the theory of a traditional life science degree with hands-on, real-world examples of the work conducted in a biotechnology company. The TLST classes will be held 1-2 times per week for a fifteen-week semester, likely in the mornings or evenings to accommodate the schedule of the students. Applicants for this position may apply to: 1) teach courses with existing content; 2) develop new course material; or 3) both develop and teach new courses for the following TLST classes:
Applicants may also express interest in teaching and/or developing the curriculum for other TLST classes not listed here. A full list of classes can be found on the TLST website (shadygrove.umbc.edu/tlst) under course descriptions.
