Classification Title: Assistant Professor College/Division: Arnold School of Public Health Department: ASPH Exercise Science Advertised Salary Range: Commensurate with experience Advertised Job Summary: The Department of Exercise Science invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of prevention science applied to child well-being, to begin August 16, 2021. Candidates are sought who have a strong research interest and focus on integrated prevention of unhealthy lifestyle and social-emotional problems in children ages 2-10. Of relevance are preventive interventions at the child, family, classroom/school or community level to impact for example aggressive behavior, dietary intake, emotional adjustment, physical activity, screen time, sedentary behavior, self-regulation, or sleep. This is the organizing theme for the University’s new NIH-supported Research Center for Child Well-Being (RCCWB). The successful candidate will also have an affiliation with the RCCWB, which is comprised of a vibrant and growing network of faculty in psychology, public health, education, and social work. One of the main goals of the RCCWB is the acceleration of promising early-career faculty to independent scientist status, which is achieved with the support of senior center scientists and research cores on Clinical-Trial Logistics and Statistical/Data Management. The successful candidate will be expected to aggressively pursue external funding to support their research related to the focus of the RCCWB and contribute to the academic mission of the department and school through undergraduate and graduate teaching, including prevention-related courses. Advertised Minimum Qualifications : Minimum qualifications include a doctoral degree, by the beginning date of employment, in a field related to public health or otherwise pertinent to the position, and a demonstrated record of research productivity and potential for excellence in teaching.
