Affirmative Action No.:: 19Y139 Department:: Emergency Medicine Position FTE:: 100% Minimum Annual or Hourly Rate: Negotiable Job Purposes:: Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, in affiliation with Kettering Medical Center in Kettering, Ohio, is recruiting an outstanding clinician-scientist to serve as the Ultrasound Director. The successful candidate will report to the Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine and hold a faculty appointment within the department (academic rank is dependent on qualifications). The successful candidate must possess leadership skills and a commitment to excellence in patient care, clinical operations and education. Responsibilities include clinical rotations with ultrasound operations, medical student and resident education, design and implementation of ultrasound academic programming, and participation in scholarly activity. The Emergency Residency was established in 1977, being one of the first 10 programs in emergency medicine in the United States, and the department formalized after quick and early success in the mid 1980's; becoming the fourth full academic Department of Emergency medicine in the country. Currently, the department has 16 full-time faculty supported by Wright State University and Wright-Patterson Medical Center; and more than 100 clinical faculty actively involved in medical student and resident education. Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine educational programs include medical education leading to the M.D., M.D./Ph.D., M.D./M.B.A., or M.D./M.P.H. degree for about 440 medical students; residency training in 13 medical specialties and fellowship training in 10 subspecialties for about 445 resident physicians and fellows; master’s degree programs in aerospace medicine, pharmacology/toxicology and public health; and a wide variety of continuing medical education programs for practicing physicians in the community. Innovative educational programs have made the Boonshoft School of Medicine a national leader in generalist medicine, community service and the diversity of our student body. Our research programs are distinguished by interdisciplinary teamwork and community collaboration and include nationally recognized centers of excellence in genomics, toxicology, neuroscience, substance abuse and treatment, and human growth and development, including the Fels Longitudinal Study. Required Qualifications:: 1. MD, MBBS or DO degree. Instructor candidates must meet requirements above and be EM board qualified. For more information regarding the governing policies of faculty rank please review them online at: Preferred Qualifications:: Ultrasound Fellowship Trained and boarded. 5 years or more ultrasound teaching experience Essential Functions and percent of time:: 55% Academic – Formal teaching and mentorship department faculty, hospital staff, residents and medical students in emergency medicine, with a special focus on ultrasound operations and applications. Conduct research. Contribute to on-going research projects, new research proposals and other externally funded opportunities for the department. Participate in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned by department Chair. 45% Clinical – Provide clinical services as assigned by the department Chair. Working Conditions:: Typical office environment, limited stairs, no extreme temperatures. Emergency Department setting—may encounter hazardous materials, some stairs. Work week = 40 hours.
