POSITION DESCRIPTION Social Dynamics in Public Health Assistant Associate Professor TS --The Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences (BCHS) in the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh (http://www.bchs.pitt.edu/) invites applications for a full-time tenure stream faculty position in the area of social dynamics in public health. Salary commensurate with background/experience. BCHS works to improve and promote health and equity by engaging individuals, communities, and systems through our research, teaching, and practice. The Department has a strong commitment to practice-oriented research, evidence-based interventions, and dissemination of findings. Our faculty prepare the public health workforce for the 21 st century, engage with communities in mutually beneficial and respectful ways, and seek to reduce health disparities by promoting health for all. The successful candidate will work with our Center for Social Dynamics and Community Health and other school and university resources including the Public Health Dynamics Laboratory. The search committee welcomes applications from individuals with relevant scholarship and experience in behavioral and social sciences areas. Particular health behaviors of interest include tobacco cessation, cancer control and prevention, and social determinants of health. Applicants should hold a doctorate in public health, a related social science discipline, or systems science and have an interest in building bridges across disciplines within the school of health sciences and across the University. Applicants should have methodological skills in computational, simulation, and modeling approaches applicable to understanding the social processes and mechanisms linking context to health and health behavior change (e.g. social network analysis or related methods) and a demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and research. The successful candidate will teach in the Department's masters and doctoral programs and be expected to introduce our students to systems science methods. Demonstrated evidence of scholarly productivity and the potential to transition to independent investigator status are required.
