Description University of California, Irvine Department of Informatics Specialist Series The University of California, Institute for Prediction Technology (UCIPT) https://predictiontechnology.ucla.edu is seeking a specialist in the area of health informatics. This position is full-time and will be at the University of California, Irvine campus (Departments of Informatics and Emergency Medicine) and funded through the UCLA Healthy Campus Initiative https://healthy.ucla.edu. The applicant will help lead an initiative to provide digital tools to help public health and policy organizations solve important societal problems, such as opioid overdose, crime, and poverty. The search is comprehensive and we encourage applicants from a broad range of disciplines to apply. The area of study is highly interdisciplinary, related to backgrounds in computer science, design, education, health informatics, humanities, media arts, organizational studies, psychology, and software engineering. We are especially interested in applicants with data science/machine learning/natural language processing expertise, and/or in developing digital behavioral interventions. The candidate should be motivated by the potential to lead large-scale social and behavioral change, including implementation science, business applications of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, and knowledge management. The candidate will be jointly supervised by a number of mentors across UCIPT. Applicants are able to bring their own ideas and/or work on existing projects, with an ultimate goal of helping the specialist develop their own research agenda. Three related potential projects a specialist could work on with UCIPT are:
