Chair, Department of Health Services Administration and Policy The Department of Health Services Administration and Policy seeks an innovative and visionary leader with a strong health policy, health services, and/or informatics background to serve as chair of the department in a tenured position. The chair will join the Dean and faculty to build the Department of Health Services Administration and Policy into a premier research and educational unit. The chair will serve as a model for the department’s faculty by maintaining a funded-research agenda, encouraging excellence in teaching and leading the faculty in interdisciplinary efforts. Research in the area of health services delivery, organization, information management, financing, workforce development, health economics, informatics, health administration or health law and policy evaluation is desirable. The ideal candidate will encourage research and training opportunities for students, foster professional development for early career faculty and encourage leadership positions for senior faculty within the University, regionally and nationally. The Chair will play a leadership role within the College and will oversee the department’s development by working with the Dean and other senior leadership to establish and enhance collaborations in research, education and practice. The candidate must be operationally astute, highly knowledgeable about opportunities in research and familiar with recent advances and challenges in all disciplines housed within the department. Department chairs are responsible for the management of their budget and administrative staff. The Chair will have the opportunity to shape and expand the department through targeted recruitment of high impact faculty members and investments to support growth in extramural research grants. Qualified candidates will have a PhD or MD/PhD degree in public health or an associated health field and qualify for a tenured academic appointment of Associate or Full Professor. Cluster hiring of research teams including senior and early career faculty is encouraged Devoted to an interprofessional environment for academic programming and research, the College of Public Health, a CEPH-accredited school of public health, is a constellation of academic units of public health, social work and health profession disciplines, enrolling 4,300 students. The College’s research focuses on social, behavioral, and environmental inquiries, medical/health interventions, and basic science and is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, and other major funders. The College has recently launched a new Center focused on Community Engaged Research and Practice. Within the overarching framework of public health, the College engages the collective energies of clinical disciplines through interprofessional education.
