We are looking for a personable, self-motivated and organized Clinical Subjects Associate to help with recruitment and follow-up activities for a research study addressing opioid misuse among youth and young adults. Key job responsibilities include approaching and collecting data from patients in the Emergency Department, conducting chart review, contacting study participants, and data entry. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Recruit study participants from the UMHS Emergency Department following IRB-approved procedures and study protocols. Distribute study assessments using Qualtrics. Request, distribute and document transactions of subject incentive payments in accordance with university guidelines. Complete participant tracking paperwork accurately and efficiently. Locate and contact enrolled subjects for follow-up survey reminders. Use MiChart to review medical charts of study participants and record data according to study procedures. Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree, preferably in psychology, public health, social work, sociology, or a related health field. This position requires flexibility and availability to work a varying schedule with some mornings, afternoons, late evenings, and weekend shifts. We are looking for someone who: is personable, empathetic and able to communicate effectively; has excellent organizational skills and can prioritize competing tasks to meet deadlines; and is able to work independently for extended periods of time while also being a team player and maintaining effective communication with the study coordinator and principal investigator. Must be comfortable working in the Emergency Department, interacting with diverse populations, and discussing sensitive topics (opioid use, suicide) with study participants. Previous health services research experience, clinic/hospital work or volunteer experience, and knowledge of the research process is preferred. Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team and using MiChart, Qualtrics, MS Excel, and Access is also preferable. Will vary, regular late evening/nights and weekends required.
