POSITION DESCRIPTION Membership Project Management Intern REPORTS TO: Membership Manager POSITION SUMMARY: The Membership Project Management Intern contributes to the advancement of local public health practice by performing a range of responsibilities related to NACCHO’s Membership Services. For Local Health Departments and their staff, NACCHO is the premier source of learning, knowledge and future-oriented research for local public health professionals, and provides resources, education, ideas and advocacy to enhance the voice and visibility of the critical role that local health departments play in keeping our communities healthy and safe. NACCHO’s Model Practices Program nationally honors and recognizes outstanding local public health practice and shares the outstanding practices through the Model Practices Database. By submitting a practice, LHDs contribute to the overall improvement of public health through effective evidence-based practice methods. The Membership Project Management Intern supports the work and activity of the Model Practices Program, helps to ensure the relevancy, integrity and upkeep of the Model Practices and Membership database files and the Model Practices and Membership areas of the website; and other duties as needed. The Membership Project Management Intern understands implications of internal and external policies that impact his or her position. The work involves partnerships with co-workers, members, vendors, and other external groups, and requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment. The Membership Project Management Intern will collaborate closely with the Membership Manager, fellow staff and NACCHO members to centralize, streamline, and improve NACCHO’s Model Practices and Membership databases integrity, and ensures superior service to local health departments. - Understand the ways in which NACCHO supports the work of local health departments and public health officials to improve the health of communities
- Learn how NACCHO connects, engages, and supports its members
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Updates and maintains the Model Practices and Membership databases to ensure accurate data and to extract management data from systems;
- Assists with the 2020 Model Practices call for applications; assists with development and delivery of two webinars to disseminate the 2019 Model Practice recipients, and one webinar for the 2020 Model Practices call for applications;
- Collaborates with Marketing/Communications team to disseminate the 2019 Model Practice information with NACCHO members and staff;
- Updates Model Practices web pages with new content, including video and photos;
- Updates member information, addresses, and demographics within the Membership database; maintains database integrity by updating records with information obtained from member calls, update forms or other sources;
- Assists in the launching of an updated member renewal process;
- Supports members’ ability to access and use the Model Practices database; works with IT staff to resolve problems as needed
- Provides systems assistance including but not limited to: netForum AMS, Higher Logic platform, and the Model Practices/Membership website presence.
- Serves as primary support for the Model Practices program, including data analysis;
- Serves as primary support agent for data entry for Model Practices program;
Qualifications - Skilled in providing an exceptional membership experience through written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Education and/or Experience - Bachelor’s degree in relevant professional field or equivalent combination of education and experience, including a relevant certification. On occasion, extensive practical experience may be substituted for formal education, particularly if the technical specialty is unusually complex or when long experience has greater value to the organization than conceptual understanding.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
